No firm date set for Singapore Airlines’ new low-cost carrier

Singapore Airlines has said that it is still in the “initial set-up” phase of the plan to launch a new low-cost carrier and was quick to deny local media reports of an April launch date. The new airline was reported in a local newspaper to be launch with one Boeing 777-200 aircraft and add more within three months of an April launch, with the fleet rising to a total of 14 Boeing aircraft by the middle of 2016. However the airline has quashed those rumours and other sources have been reported in Dow Jones that the a tender document calling for bids for inflight entertainment systems gave an approximate "entry into service" date for the first aircraft of April 1. The document also referred to a fleet of 14 Boeing aircraft.
