The CEO of Turkish Airlines has ruled out buying A380s for the foreseeable future and says he intends to increase frequencies, rather than open up new destinations across Europe and the Middle East.
“I am after increasing the frequencies. Frequencies bring me more money,” deputy chairman and CEO Temel Kotil told Arabian Business. Asked whether Turkish Airlines intends to order any Airbus A380s to widen its fleet and rival the Middle East carriers, Kotil said: “Our Boeing 777s and Airbus 330s are working everywhere. We have about 32 B777s and more than that of the A330s. “What we are lacking are frequencies. That’s why I am after increasing the frequencies. Frequencies bring me more money.” Kotil said he was content with the performance of existing destinations. For example, Iran – where Turkish Airlines operates services to seven cities under a codeshare agreement with Iran Air – is “booming”.
