The Sociedad Uruguaya de Aviacion (SUA) will be Uruguay's new flag carrier, local media reported on January 25, 2025. The airline, backed by Saudi Arabia, will launch operations with A220s wet leased with airBaltic.
The airline's fleet will reportedly comprise of six aircraft, which it will receive over the next year and a half. The airline expects to reach 10 jets in three years.
SUA will take over the legacy of Pluna, which ceased operations in 2012 when the government decided to liquidate the struggling flag carrier.
The airline plans to reveal details on its entry into service on January 28, 2025.
