New Indian airline Air Kerala.com said it is on track to launch operations by March next year. The airline's website describes itself as "India's first ultra-low-cost carrier".
Zettfly Aviation, the parent company of Air Kerala.com, recently appointed Harish Kutty as the airline's CEO.
"We are thrilled to have Mr. Harish Kutty lead Air Kerala.com as CEO," said the airline's chariman Afi Ahmed. His vast experience in the aviation industry will be crucial in realizing our vision of taking to the skies by March 2025."
The airline aims to enhance Kerala's tourism and aviation landscape. In addition, it is focussing on improving cargo and perishable goods transportation between Kerala and other regions. There is plans to potentially introduce seaplane services in the future to boost regional tourism.
According to its website, it has a starting fleet of three ATR72-600s, with plans to expand to 20 aircraft as it pushes to "venture into international operations".
