New CCO appointed at Norwegian; reveals November traffic results

Marty St. George has been appointed interim chief commercial officer (CCO) at Norwegian following changes in the company’s top management team.

St. George has extensive experience from the aviation industry. Until recently, he held the position as CCO of JetBlue Airways.

The former CCO of Norwegian, Helga Bollmann Leknes, has decided to leave the company after two years, following changes in Norwegian’s top management team.

Bollmann Leknes was offered another position in the group management team but has decided to pursue other opportunities outside of Norwegian. He joined Norwegian in 2017 as chief human resources officer and took on the additional responsibility as chief commercial officer in November 2018.

Meanwhile, the airline's traffic figures for November shows an increased unit revenue for the eighth consecutive month, up 18% compared to the same month previous year.

At the same time, the capacity was reduced, which is in line with the company’s strategy. The load factor was 83%, up by 4.2 percentage points.

A total of nearly 2.3 million passengers chose to fly with Norwegian in November. The company operated 99.8% of the scheduled flights this month, 86.2% of which departed on time, up 3.7 percentage points.

Acting CEO and CFO of Norwegian Geir Karlsen said: “We are pleased that our unit revenue continued to increase in November. Our load factor is higher and the on-time performance has improved. In line with our strategy of moving from growth to profitability, the planned capacity reduction has improved the figures.

"We have adjusted our route portfolio and capacity for the coming winter season and summer seasons to ensure that we are well-positioned to meet the actual demand. The figures show that we continue to deliver on our strategy of moving from growth to profitability."
