British Airways (BA) has revealed plans to add a new service from 2011 flying from London Gatwick airport to the Puerto Rican capital of San Juan.
The new route is thanks to the UK airline’s recent affiliation with American Airlines. Through the new service, due to begin next year, BA will be able to offer through-connections to the British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, St Maarten and the US Virgin Islands of St Croix and St Thomas.
Speaking at the Barbados-based Caribbean Tourism Organisation Leadership Strategy Conference, Willie Walsh, chief executive of BA, said the new route will allow the airline to offer tourist popular two centre holidays. The services to San Juan, which will start from April 2011), will offer travellers a Monday or Friday service every week.
