Italia Trasporto Aereo (ITA, the new Alitalia) has unveiled its business plan that aims to create a smaller airline based at the Rome Fiumicino Airport as main hub and Milan Linate Airport.
The new airline will operate 61 routes using 52 aircraft and employ between 5,200 and 5,500 employees. From next year, ITA expects to fly between Rome and 15 international destinations, increasing to 22 in 2022, 25 in 2023 and 28 in 2024. Domestically ITA will fly from Rome to: Turin, Bologna, Trieste, Verona, Venice, Florence, Bari, Brindisi, Naples, Lamezia, Reggio C., Catania, Comiso, Palermo, Alghero, Cagliari, Olbia.
ITA states that its future aircraft fleet to be determined since talks remain in progress for the commercial assets of the old Alitalia, including: the Alitalia AZ code, 055 IATA ticket issuing plate, Alitalia brand, London Heathrow slots and Programma Millemiglia, the frequent flyer program.
