NAV Canada, Canda’s civil aviation navigation provider, says more efficient airline routes will save the aviation industry $300 million in fuel costs and prevent the release of 700,000 metric tonnes of greenhouse gases.
NAV Canada has stated it will lead a new international fuel and GHG-savings project, the ENGAGE Corridor Project, which will begin trial tracking flights in February and conclude in the spring. Flights will experiment with altitude and speed to see which is the most efficient.
