Nauru Airlines has added a B737-800F aircraft to its fleet launching freight operations in addition to passenger services. The new aircraft is over 21 years old with a capacity to carry 24 tonnes of cargo, benefiting the Pacific islands.
The aircraft preciously flew for Excel Airways taking its first flight on April 12, 2002 followed by serving several airlines like Ryanair, Sunwings, Garuda and Sriwijaya Air in Indonesia. The airline served Sriwijaya Air from 2016 till date before handing it over to Nauru Airlines on August 1, 2023.
Pacific Islands rely on cargo freight services essential items like fresh water, foodstuffs, medical suppliers, and other necessities and with the new plane having a cargo capacity of 24 tonnes, it is a welcome change for the Island.
Nauru Airlines operated across Central Pacific and provides ACMI and cargo services for other operators in need.
