NATS signs strategic partnership with Bristol Airport

NATS has signed a strategic partnership with Bristol Airport that will see it provide air traffic services at the Airport until at least 2036.
NATS, which has managed air traffic control at Bristol Airport for 20 years, will continue providing air traffic and associated engineering services, with the new contract coming into effect in January 2026.

Bristol Airport saw its busiest ever summer in 2024 with 10.6 million passengers and last year began major works as part of a £400m investment over five years that will enable 12 million passengers a year to use the Airport. Projects have included a refurbishment of the Air Traffic Control Tower, ongoing terminal improvements and a new Public Transport Interchange, which is due to open this summer.

As a strategic partner, NATS’ role will be to work with the Airport to ensure it can deliver the increase in capacity safely and efficiently and support the Airport’s wider development. Part of this work will include exploring how the Airport could benefit from the latest digital air traffic management technologies to measure, track and enhance airfield performance.
