Estonia's Nordic Aviation Group has named public relations executive Airi Kaunissaare as head of marketing, communications and sustainability.
"This achievement marks a significant milestone in achieving gender parity," NAG announced, while also saying the appointment meant it "achieves a majority of women in its management team".
The addition of Kaunissare seems to mean NAG has a majority of women on its management team, rather than parity, as NAG announced in January 2023 it had appointed the same number of women and men to its management.
"Kaunissaare brings valuable expertise to our team, and her previous accomplishments in the travel sector are a great asset for implementing our vision, in a market situation of growing demand for air travel," according to chief executive Jan Palmer, who added Kaunissaare was selected based on her qualifications through a public competition after considering numerous top candidates, both men and women.
The appointment of Kaunissaare also "ushers in a fresh chapter in the aviation industry", NAG said.
