The start-up airline in Malaysia, MYAirline, has been given permission to commence operations in December 2022. The airline received its Air Service Licence (ASL) from the Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) just this month. Recently the airline confirmed that it had received the Air Operator Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM).
Rayner Teo, CEO, MYAirline posted on social media: “Our next step is to apply for domestic air traffic rights in order to begin flying within Malaysia by the end of the year. We are aiming for domestic destinations on Malaysia’s Peninsula like Langkawi, Kota Kinabalu, and Kuching.”
The airline currently has 330 employees and a fleet of three narrow A320s with ambitious plans of operating 50 aircraft within the next five years. Due to the pandemic, all MYAirline’s aircraft are currently leased.
The airline will launch operations from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2).
