MTU Aero Engines has named Johannes Bussmann as its new CEO of MTU Aero Engines. Bussmann will succeed Lars Wagner in helming MTU Aero Engines in the course of 2025. Wagner will go on to be CEO of Airbus' commercial aviation division.
The board had had unanimously decided to place Bussmann in the role. He is currently the CEO of TUV SUD. In addition, he holds a doctorate in aerospace engineering, Bussmann spent seven years leading Lufthansa Technik and has been a member of the MTU supervisory board since 2024. He will resign from his position on the supervisory board upon assuming his leadership position within the company.
Bussmann thanked the company for “the trust it has placed” in him and added: "The company has a successful business model, excellent prospects and a great, value-based culture."
The exact date of Wagner assuming the position will be announced later. Bussmann's contract term is for five years.
