Montana Airspace starts new production line for Airbus Atlantic

Montana Airspace has successfully started a new product line, manufacturing “Section 11 Floor Grid” for Airbus Atlantic. The product will be installed in the nose fuselage section of the Airbus A320.

The Section 11 Floor Grid is being manufactured at Montana’s new facility in Baia Mare, Romania, which opened in 2019. “We can offer significantly shorter delivery times and even reduce CO2 emissions through shorter supply routes by producing at a single location," said Kai Arndt, co-chief executive of Montana.

The part is made to structurally support the cabin and distribute the weight of the crew and other equipment onto the structure. It consists of 360 different parts, 150 sub-assemblies and 6,500 standard parts. The building of the parts is completely manual, at different workstations and specially designed assembly fixtures.

The contract between Montana and Airbus is a multi-year long term agreement. “We are glad to count Montana Aerospace as one of our key strategic partners and we look forward to their success and ours in this new collaboration,” said José-Maria Trujillano, chief procurement officer at Airbus.
