Aviation investment fund Deucalion and Marubeni Corporation have formed a new joint venture leasing company, MD Aviation Capital.
Duecalion has been advised by DVB Bank on the deal.
MD Aviation Capital plans to complete its first acquisition of assets by the end of 2010 and expects to further expand its investment portfolio in the future.
Bertrand Grabowski, member of the board of managing directors of DVB and responsible for aviation, said: “We are delighted to have concluded this new joint venture vehicle which represents our first such collaboration with Marubeni. This new venture continues the Bank’s strategy of opportunistically investing in the aviation sector through the Deucalion aviation funds, funds that have a proven track record of success going back to 2001.”
Gentaro Toya, senior operating officer, transportation machinery division, Marubeni Corporation, said: "We are very pleased to be inaugurating this new business venture with Deucalion and DVB. Marubeni has extensive experience in providing sales agency services for commercial aircraft, business jets and engines, investment in engine development programs, and various other services including aircraft components, airport ground handling services, etc. By entering into the aircraft operating lease business, and strengthening its comprehensive range of services to airlines around the world, Marubeni intends to make a further material contribution to the aviation industry.
