Manston Airport secures permission to be developed into air freight facility
Manston Airport based in Kent, UK, can now be developed into a dedicated air freight facility after a court of appeal against the development consent order (DCO) was dismissed in May 2024. The first application was made in 2018 by RiverOak Strategic Partners (RSP) before a DCO was granted by the UK department of transport in 2020. That DCO was challenged and then redecided two years later. A resident then subsequently appealed against the DCO. After seven years, RSP director of airport owners Tony Freudmann said: ""It’s time to turn our plans into reality. ""Although the past seven years have been intensely frustrating at times, the fact that we have gone all the way to the court of appeal means no stone has been left unturned in the examination of our proposals."" BDB Pitmans had advised RSP on the redevelopment of Manston Airport. The work is expected to begin soon.
