Malaysia Airlines will commence daily flights between Kuala Lumpur and Chengdu Tianfu International Airport (TFU), bringing the airline's network in Greater China to seven destinations from 9 January 2026 onwards.
Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, group managing director of Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG), said: “With these new routes and expanded frequencies, MAG is strengthening its role as the gateway to Asia and beyond, making it easier for travellers to discover top destinations across the region and further afield."
Firefly Airlines will also launch new jet services to Krabi, Siem Reap and Cebu from Kuala Lumpur International Airport from November 2025 onwards.
Both companies also plan to increase frequencies across their network from October 2025 onwards. Malaysia Airlines is adding more services to Australia, New Zealand, China, India, the Maldives, and Bangladesh, while Firefly is focused on Singapore, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Penang, and Johor Bahru.
These network expansions go in accordance with MAG's ongoing fleet modernisation strategy, such as the introduction of the A330neo on select Australia and New Zealand routes. By the first quarter of 2026, Malaysia Airlines will operate the youngest widebody fleet into Australasia.
