Malaysia Airlines to operate additional flights during peak Lunar New Year season

The Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM) has granted permission to Malaysia Airlines to operate additional flights during the peak travel season of the Lunar New Year. The airline will operate seven additional flights from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Kuching International Airport (KCH), nine additional flights from KUL airport to Sibu Airport (SBU) and one additional flight from Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KBI) to KCH Airport.

Going ahead MAVCOM has asked the airlines to cater to passengers needs and be sensitive to passenger demands. In a statement, the authorities pointed out the Malaysian Aviation Consumer Protection Code (MACPC) and reminded airlines of their obligations to passengers.

MAVCOM has also instructed airlines at all Malaysian airports to deploy teams handling delays for any flight that has been delayed for two hours or more.

The Chinese or Lunar New Year is considered to be the busiest time of the year to travel to Asia and the peak travel season begins 15 days ahead of the Lunar New Year, mid-January to late February.
