Magma Aviation, a Dublin-based cargo carrier, has taken delivery of a new Boeing 747 Freighter (747F) aircraft, in line with plans to expand its route and service offerings.

Between 2026 and 2030, Magma plans to triple its fleet size by acquiring a mixture of 777F and 747F aircraft.

The 747F can carry more than 100 tonnes of cargo per flight, including a range of sensitive and specialised cargo, such vehicles and heavy machinery.

“In the past, we have successfully transported outsized and specialized cargo loads – anything from mining equipment to full-size helicopters, boats and more,” said Peter Kerins, CEO of Magma Aviation.

“With a new B747F aircraft in our fleet, this gives our team a great advantage to diversify the products we offer.”

Headquartered in Dublin with hubs in Dubai and London Gatwick, Magma is part of Avia Solutions Group, the world’s largest aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance (ACMI) provider.

The group, which operates a fleet of 187 aircraft worldwide, provides a range of aviation services through its more than 250 subsidiaries, including maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), pilot and crew training, and ground handling.
