MAAS Aviation extends paintwork contract with Airbus for A320, A220

MAAS Aviation has signed a new five-year contract with Airbus for the painting of A320 and A220 aircraft.

The painting will take place at MAAS’s facility in Mobile, Alabama, where it can paint up to 200 aircraft a year across its five dedicated paint bays.

Geoff Myrick, executive vice president of OEM at MAAS, said the partnership supports the planned ramp-up of narrowbody production at Airbus.

“We have the capability to design, build and operate OEM painting centres aligned to manufacturer’s specific requirements and demanding planning schedules,” he said.

“We have proven experience developing capabilities from a greenfield starting point.”

MAAS first partnered with Airbus in 2011, when it began providing paintwork from its OEM paint shop in Hamburg, Germany.

Last year, MAAS painted its 1,000th aircraft for Airbus at the Hamburg facility, after expanding its capacity along the way.

To date,, MAAS has already painted more than 600 aircraft for Airbus at its Mobile facility.

MAAS operates 13 paint shops in total, located in the Netherlands, Germany, Lithuania and the US, where it can paint up to 580 aircraft per year.

Its paint shops are designed for narrowbody and regional aircraft.
