Luxembourg Airport has reopened its only runway following an accident during the landing of a light aircraft.
On Thursday (November 13), the airport announced that the runway had been closed following a failed landing, which caused minor injuries to two persons on board the aircraft.
“After the pilots received medical attention and the technical accident investigation was carried out, recovery operations for the aircraft were initiated by the Luxembourg Fire and Rescue Corps,” the airport said in a statement.
“Subsequently, the runway was inspected for any technical damage or contamination, cleaned, and reopened for safe air traffic at 23:07.”
No persons other than the occupants of the light aircraft were involved in the incident, and no other aircraft or vehicles were affected.
The runway did not sustain any damage as a result of the accident and is now safe for continued operations.
However, "several" flights were cancelled or diverted due to the closure of the runway, the airport said.
