Lufthansa Technik signs five-year contract with Frontier Airlines

Lufthansa Technik and Frontier Airlines have signed a five-year agreement under which Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico will provide  base maintenance for the low-cost carrier’s A320 family aircraft. An additional agreement will also encompass digital aircraft diagnostic services through the maintenance provider’s AVIATAR platform. Approximately 300 aircraft maintenance events are scheduled for Frontier Airlines in Puerto Rico over the next five years, with two base maintenance lines now reserved at the facility to support this demand. The five-line, 215,000 square feet facility is based at Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla. Lufthansa Technik Puerto Rico is also planning to “integrate additional contracted services for Frontier Airlines for the upcoming maintenance activities, such as component support, and introduce new digital solutions,” explained Joerg Speri, Chief Executive Officer of Lufthansa Technik PuertoRico. Additionally, Frontier’s adoption of the AVIATAR solution – encompassing a ‘vast area of digital products from predictive health analytics to condition monitoring’ – is also expected to lower the cost of maintenance and help avoid operational incidents or delays.
