Lufthansa Technik Philippines (LTP) has completed its first 12-year check on an A380 aircraft. After completing the extensive work package, the A380 was sent to Germany to return to Lufthansa Airlines' fleet.
Various large aircraft components were completely replaced or temporarily dismantled as part of the check, including the more than 500 passengers seats removed and later reinstalled to provide adequate access for the checks. The landing gear was also completely replaced.
LTP CEO Elmar Lutter said: ""The return of the A380 to the fleets of many airlines has also boosted demand for maintenance services enormously. We are benefiting quite from this with our A380 expertise here in Manilla, that we recently even expanded with the third overhaul line.""
Lutter added that amid ongoing delivery delays for new wide-body aircraft, he is convinced that A380 services will ""remain an integral part"" of its portfolio in the future.
