Lufthansa Systems introduces new AI-based tool
Lufthansa Systems has introduced a web-based AI-powered operations control assistant, intended to support airline controllers in increasing the stability and efficiency of daily operations. The prescriptive NetLine/Ops++ aiOCC solution, based on reinforcement learning, is already in use and jointly optimised with first customers. With operations controllers making numerous fast-paced and complex decisions every day, often analysing several information sources simultaneously, “our smart assistant supports operations controllers in their challenging work, not replacing them,” highlighted head of NetLine solutions at Lufthansa Systems Jan-Peter Gaense. “AI is the next step in the technological evolution. So, early adoption is crucial for airlines,” he added. Lufthansa Systems’ system analyses historical data and monitors ongoing events to identify delay risks ahead of time, generating recommendations on how to improve operations. Although the system provides additional information regarding the impact of the proposed solution, the ultimate decision remains with the operations controller.
