Deutsche Lufthansa is cancelling more than 1,700 flights over the next two days after its pilots’ union, Vereinigung Cockpit, has extended strike plans into a second week. VC has told pilots not to report to work today and has requested that pilots flying mid-haul and long-haul services to join the walkout on Wednesday.
Lufthansa will cancel 816 of 3,000 flights today, with a further 890 flights to be grounded tomorrow.
Lufthansa’s bid to get a German court to block the strike has failed. VC claims that the airline has failed to bridge differences over pay increases and other issues.
