Lufthansa has ordered Austrian Airlines to make more savings in return for supporting its subsidiary’s plans to upgrade its fleet. Austrian is planning to replace its 737 aircraft with up to seven A319 or A320 aircraft but needs Lufthansa to help it finance the order.
Austrian is working to reduce staff costs and cut routes to secure €200 million savings this year.
