Lufthansa Airlines will be operating 50% of its total flight schedule tomorrow and Friday (March 12-13) after pilots' union Vereinigung Cockpit announced strike action at “short notice”.
As a result, the airline said that flight cancellations are “unavoidable”, but has made efforts to offset the impact.
The airline is operating 60% of its long-haul connections.
“In addition, numerous flights to and from Frankfurt and Munich will be taken over by other airlines of the Lufthansa Group and by partner airlines,” said Lufthansa. “Larger aircraft will also be used on the strike days to accommodate more passengers.”
The union also announced a full-day strike at Lufthansa Cityline tomorrow, but the airline will operate “almost its entire flight programme” on Friday.
