Lufthansa has stated that it has “concluded an agreement with a UK-based investor group” to buy bmi Regional, although it added the deal “is subject to certain pre-conditions which are to be fulfilled.
The preferred bidder for bmi Regional, which operates from airports including Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds Bradford and Manchester, was not disclosed by the German airline group.
Lufthansa also says it has several interested parties in bmibaby, which it says it is “in the process of identifying the preferred buyer and aim to conclude a purchase agreement as soon as possible”.
The two brands were not included with the sale of bmi to British Airways owner IAG last December.
