Lufthansa Cargo has partnered with China's Best Services International Freight (BSI) to reduce its CO2 emissions on June 26 at the transport logistics trade fair in Shanghai. BSI will invest in a total of around 137,000 litres of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) at Lufthansa Cargo to offset the emissions caused by its flights.
""Examples like this help reduce our CO2 emissions and promote the use of SAF worldwide,"" said Lufthansa Cargo head of regional Asia Pacific Florian Pfaff. ""Every customer who takes advantage of this opportunity is making a significant contribution to the decarbonization of logistics. The interest shows us that there is great potential for this, especially in Asia.""
BSI Group CEO Wilson Wong commented, ""With limited SAF production globally, agreements like this are of paramount importance.""
The Lufthansa Group said it is ""actively involved"" in the research and development of SAF. BSI is Lufthansa Cargo's first customer in China to opt for the use of over 100 tons of SAF.
