On 21 September 2023, on the site adjacent to Rzeszów Jasionka Airport, the first shovel was driven in for the construction of the largest investment in the history of the Polish aircraft maintenance leader (LOTAMS Company). This marked the ceremonial inauguration of the construction phase of the base located in the Podkarpacie region, which will receive its first aircraft for servicing in 21 months.
Preparations to realise this investment have been underway for several years. LOTAMS already owns the necessary land (approximately 10 hectares), has obtained all the required permits and has established cooperation with the entities that will be responsible for realising the investment. At the beginning of September this year. The company selected a General Contractor and signed a contract with a consortium comprising Polimex Mostostal and Polimex Infrastruktura.
“This day will go down in the history of our Company and the European aviation industry. May this first shovel driven in be a symbol of our determination, hard work and commitment to in creating the future of aviation in Europe. Together we will build something that will become a source of pride not only for us, but for the entire industry. This investment is also our contribution to the development of Europe's aviation infrastructure, which is important in the context of the changing challenges of air transport. We are proud to contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of aviation services not only on the Polish market, but also in Europe. Many thanks for the work of all those involved and the support of the Polish Aviation Group. It is thanks to you that we can realise our vision and turn it into reality,” said Aleksandra Juda, President of LOTAMS.
The investment, estimated to be worth PLN 216 million, will be financed mainly with funds from the recapitalisation of the company by the Polish Aviation Group.
The project involves, among other things, the construction of a service hangar with a usable area of almost 13,000 m2, pre-hangar apron and a workshop, technical, social and office building on the premises of Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport. The planned completion date of the investment is 21 months (from the commencement of construction work).
The hangar will have two slots for base maintenance of wide-bodied aircraft, which can also be flexibly adapted to handle smaller aircraft. Among other things, this will allow PLL LOT's heavy Boeing 787s to be overhauled.
