LOT takes three new 787-9s

LOT Polish Airlines took a key decision on furthering development of its long haul fleet. In accordance to the agreement with Aviation Capital Group in March 2018 the Polish carrier will take delivery of the first out of three brand new Boeing  787-9’s. Initially the new 787-9 will operate LOT’s most popular destinations such as New York and Chicago.

As a stretched version of the 787-8, the 787-9 can fly more passengers and cargo further. In LOT’s three class configuration the aircraft will take onboard 294 passengers: 24 in business, 21 in premium and 249 in economy class. The 787-9 will be the largest aircraft in the history of LOT’s fleet.

”LOT is proud to be the very first airline in Europe, whose long haul fleet relies fully on the Dreamliner. After 4 years in operations this has proved to be an excellent choice. This aircraft is beloved by our passengers and plays a crucial role in the development of our long haul network” – says Rafał Milczarski, CEO of LOT Polish Airlines. ”With the 787-9 we will open a new chapter in our history. This aircraft will give as an opportunity to significantly increase the capacity on our existing, most popular routes, in additon to opening new ones. At the same time reduce fuel consumption, better cost and revenue per seat. This gives us a strong boost and makes our airline far more competitive. Fewer CO2 emission, below limits on hydrocarbons, noise below ICAO regulations, makes this aircraft extremaly enviroment friendly, something we care about deeply.” – he adds.

The new 787-9s will be leased from the Aviation Capital Group, and delievered brand new straight from Boeing’s factory to LOT’s hub in Warsaw, Poland.

"ACG is delighted to be partnering with LOT Polish Airlines, one of the premier international airlines in Europe by providing three widebody aircraft to facilitate their fleet expansion plans," said Khanh T. Tran, CEO of Aviation Capital Group.
