Sebastian Mikosz, chief executive of Polish LOT Airlines, told news agency PAP that he may be forced to ask the Treasury Minister for another loan since losses during 2012 are in excess of 200 million zlotys ($64 million). LOT has already borrowed 400 million zlotys from the Treasury.
Since the government is considering scrapping a law which bans the sale of a majority stake in the airline, one solution to the airline’s financial woes could be to attract a private buyer.
