Loss for Korean Air

Korean Air has reported a net loss of KRW251 billion ($216 million) for the second quarter of 2016, which has widened the KRW169 billion net loss reported in the year-ago quarter. Operating profit rose during the period however to KRW159 billion from an operating loss of KRW3 billion in the prior-year period. This was aided by a 29% drop in fuel costs and improvement in revenue.

Korean Air’s international traffic rose 6% on the back of a 3.6% increase in capacity. The international load factor improved 1.8 percentage points to 78.1%, yield declined 2.3% in Korean currency and 8% in US currency.
