Loganair has unveiled the United Kingdom's first ‘Pride Jet.’ The Embraer ERJ-145 sporting Pride colors and gradient script along with its customary Loganair tartan tail. The aircraft is named as Jet Prois and will be deployed throughout the Loganair network mostly covering places where Pride events have only taken place for the very first time in the last couple of years.
The specially-themed aircraft is part of Loganair's sponsorship of this year's Northern Pride in Newcastle July 22-23.
Expressing his excitement at the roll-out Jonathan Hinkles, Chief Executive, Loganair said: “I'm super-Proud to be celebrating Pride Month this month in Loganair - and what better way in which to do it than pinning our colours to the fuselage with the UK's first-ever airline Pride Jet. I'm very much looking forward to this making its mark around the Loganair network during Pride Month and beyond. Newcastle is one of our most popular destinations and as we enter our biggest ever summer for the region, we’re thrilled to be announced as Northern Pride’s official airline partner."
The country's leading events in Brighton, Manchester, and London have been running for years and draw in a large number of visitors.
Loganair has based a second Embraer ERJ-145 aircraft at Newcastle airport and expects to carry a record number of customers across its network of routes within the UK and to Norway this year.
The airline offers over 200,000 seats from Newcastle International Airport with new flights to Oslo via Aberdeen. It also returns to its pre-Pandemic frequency of up to five weekly flights between Newcastle and Stavanger, alongside a twice-weekly service to Bergen.
Leon McQuaid, Director of Aviation Development, Newcastle Airport said: “We are proud to have a partnership with Loganair which is leading the way in promoting diversity across its business. The Pride Jet is a fantastic initiative to showcase the airline’s commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community both for passengers and staff, and we look forward to welcoming the aircraft at the Airport as we begin the airline’s busiest summer ever at Newcastle International.”
