Loganair names Ronnie Matheson as new chief commercial officer

Loganair, the UK’s largest regional airline, has appointed Ronnie Matheson as its new chief commercial officer with immediate effect.

Matheson is a 25-year aviation industry veteran, who began his career with British Airways in Glasgow in 1998, and who also has easyJet and Flybe.

Most recently, Matheson served as chief revenue officer at Blue Islands, the Jersey-based regional carrier that ceased trading earlier this month.

As covered by Airline Economics, Loganair is one of two regional airlines that have agreed to operate additional flights to support Blue Islands' passengers whose plans have been disrupted.

The other regional airline that stepped in to support Blue Islands' passengers was codeshare partner Aurigny.

Luke Farajallah, CEO at Loganair, said that Matheson’s appointment is one positive development to come out of the “situation in Jersey”.

“Ronnie’s experience and knowledge of the Channel Islands is unsurpassed, an area he will focus on in his early weeks with the business,” said the CEO.

Matheson will replace Luke Lovegrove as chief commercial officer, who will step down in 2026.

Lovegrove’s transition was “long-planned”, the company said, and will open up opportunities for the executive outside of Scotland, where Loganair is based.

“To ensure a seamless transition, Ronnie will work closely with Luke over the coming weeks, supporting continuity and growth across our commercial function and wider business,” said Farajallah.
