Liverpool Airport lauds return of Aer Lingus

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has announced that Aer Lingus is returning after a seven year absence, with flights to Dublin to start on April 27.

The route will be operated by Emerald Airlines, Aer Lingus' regional carrier. There are to be 11 departures a week, including two a day on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The airport said that the Dublin connection will give passengers "the ability to seamlessly connect onto Aer Lingus flights to North America", via with onward routes available including New York JFK, Washington, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia", with the further attraction of Dublin Airport offering US pre-clearance for immigration and customs.

"Passengers arriving in the US are treated as domestic arrivals, allowing them to avoid immigration queues upon arrival and pick up their bags and go," the Liverpool airport said in its announcement.
