Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA) has received the first arrival on the resumed Aer Lingus regional service between Liverpool and Dublin.
The 11-times-a-week route is operated by Emerald Airlines, using a 72-seater ATR, and gives passengers from the UK the option of handy connections to the US via Ireland's capital, where the airport features one of the few US immigration pre-clearance desks outside North America.
Former Irish international and Liverpool club footballer John Aldridge was on hand at LJLA to greet arrivals.
“Ireland is close to my heart both in terms of my family and having had the privilege of representing the Republic of Ireland during my playing career" Aldridge said.
