Combined passenger traffic through Kaunas, Palanga and Vilnius airports doubled to 5.35 million in 2022, according to Lithuanian Airports.
The three hubs overcame a "slow start" to the year to operate almost 51,000 flights, nearly 48% more than the previous year, with overall traffic bouncing back to 80% of pre-pandemic levels.
“We have clearly seen that the growth potential and willingness to travel was not diminished by the challenges of the pandemic, and in many cases on the contrary - we have even seen an increased willingness to travel, which continues to this day,” said Tomas Zitikis, head of route development at Lithuanian Airports.
