Indonesia's Lion Group has finalized the first deal for its leasing subsidiary, Transportation Partners, to lease three B737-800s to China's 9 Air in a move described as a "backup plan" for the group’s airline Lion Air.
The deal with 9 Air, the LCC subsidiary of China's Juneyao Airlines, involves three aircraft which will come from Lion's existing 737 order.
The 9 Air deal comes after Lion Group started Transportation Partners to manage Lion's aircraft portfolio. Lion has placed orders worth about $45bn at list prices, with deliveries spread over the next 10 years.
