Lion Air is all set to ramp up its operations in South Asia with a particular focus on the Indian Subcontinent. Going ahead, the Group has planned to increase its fleet size with orders of the narrowbody aircraft from both Boeing and Airbus on its order books. The Group added over 40 planes in its fleet in 2022, but the Group CEO Daniel Putut Kuncoro Adi revealed that those planes comprised just half of what the group needs.
Currently the Lion Air Group, comprising of Lion Air, Wings Air (Indonesia), Super Air Jet, Batik Air, Batik Air Malaysia, and Thai Lion Air have 317 aircraft, with most of the aircraft based in Indonesia and Lion Air accounting for major share.
According to sources, Lion Air Indonesia has over 110 A320neos and A321neos on order from Airbus. Along with over 230 737MAX orders from Boeing.
The airline group is expecting to expand operations in South Asia, including countries such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Besides the Group also plans to scale up the operations on high-demand routes like the Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, and Penang.
