LATAM Airlines Group is all set to resume its non-stop flights between Santiago de Chile (SCL) and Melbourne (MEL), Australia, from September 1, 2023. The services on this route were suspended in April 2020 due to pandemic.

Last year, LATAM Airlines resumed its flights to Auckland and Sydney International (SYD) in Australia with thrice weekly flights and expanded the capacity to daily flights by December 2022.

LATAM also flew to Melbourne from Santiago de Chile and Tahiti (PPT) from Rapa Nui (IPC). Now, the company is resuming one of these last destinations, as it will begin flying again to Melbourne in September.

Initially, the flights will be restarted with three weekly frequencies and will be operated on Boeing 787 Dreamliner 9 aircraft, with a capacity of 300 passengers.

María Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager, LATAM Airlines Group, said: “We are very happy to reinforce connectivity between South America and Oceania through this second route to Australia. We will maintain our commitment to offering more options to bring people safely, punctually, and with internationally recognized service to their destination.”

LATAM first launched its direct flight from Santiago to Melbourne in October 2017.
