LATAM is all set to increase its connectivity to Rapa Nui’s Mataveri International Airport (IPC), in the Pacific. The airline will operate six weekly flights to IPC starting August 1, deploying its B787 fleet.
Although LATAM has not achieved the pre-pandemic frequency on the route, the airline plans on increasing the frequency going ahead, as demand rises.
“The decision to increase the capacity responds to the coordinated work between the public and private sectors to support the reopening of tourism, the relaxation of sanitary measures on the island, and the progress in the maintenance works of the runway of the local airport,” commented Juan José Tohá, Director of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, LATAM Airlines Group. “We are very pleased to be able to announce this news, especially to the Rapa Nui community, who have made us feel the urgency of taking care of this air bridge with the Island, and thus continue to support its tourist vocation and promote economic reactivation for its inhabitants.
