Mozambican flag-carrier Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) plans to refurbish Nacala airport in the north-eastern Nampula province into a regional and international gateway.
LAM intends to increase its regional presence with the aim of serving all the Southern African Development Community (SADC) capital cities.
Nacala airport currently features an upgraded 3,400m runway capable of handling B747-400s, while the 16,000 square metre terminal building can handle over 600,000 passengers per year.
LAM’s expansion plans also include its recent leasing of aircraft from ILFC.
