Cargo company Kuehne + Nagel International has announced it has entered into a plea agreement with the US Department of Justice. The agreement marks an end to a three-year long investigation by the DOJ that international freight companies collaborated to establish surcharges for international freight forwarding services to the United States.
In respect of five of its subsidiaries that were found to have established surcharges for international air freight forwarding services, Kuehne + Nagel has pleaded guilty to violations of the US Sherman Act. The company has agreed to pay a fine of $9.865 million. The plea is still subject to court approval.
Kuehne + Nagel is continuing to cooperate with anti-trust authorities.
