Korean Air has signed an agreement with Airbus to deploy its latest predictive maintenance solution, Skywise Fleet Performance+ (S.FP+).
The solution is an upgraded platform that will integrate and replace the airline’s existing Airbus tools: Skywise Predictive Maintenance+ (SPM+) and Skywise Health Monitoring (SHM).
Korean Air said its adoption of S.FP+ is a key strategic initiative that will enhance operational efficiency and unify maintenance systems.
The solution will be deployed in order to accommodate the airline's expanded fleet, following its merger with Asiana Airlines, which was completed in December 2024.
S.FP+ is designed to maximise aircraft availability and operational reliability by using advanced data analytics to detect potential component issues before they occur.
The ‘Control’ tier, which Korean Air has selected, includes features such as pre-departure check support and intelligent troubleshooting tools powered by natural language processing (NLP).
This approach is expected to “significantly” reduce aircraft on the ground (AOG) situations and associated costs, the airline said.
The solution will be applied to Korean Air’s A321neo, A330, A350, and A380 fleets, and will be extended to Asiana Airlines’ Airbus fleet after the full integration of the two carriers.
