Kenyan authorities postpone visa regulation change

The Kenyan High Commission has postponed a legislation requiring South Africans traveling to and via Kenya to obtain a visa in advance at the Kenyan High Commission in Pretoria. The legislation was opposed by the Kenyan tourism sector and South African travel agents

The visa requirement was originally a diplomatic response to the South African government imposing the same transit visa requirements upon Kenyan passengers.

Previously, South African passport holders were exempted from visa requirements when traveling for fewer than 30 days.
