Joby completes crewed eVTOL flight ahead of Dubai Airshow

Joby has completed a crewed rehearsal flight ahead of this week's Dubai Airshow 2025, the company said today (November 17).

Marking the first eVTOL point-to-point flight in the UAE, the aircraft took off from Dubai Jetman Helipad in Margham and touched down at Al Maktoum International Airport.

Joby had started crewed trials in Margham in summer and is now working with various UAE aviation and transport authorities, including Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), to launch air taxi services next year.

“The successful completion of the first crewed flight of the electric aerial taxi marks a new milestone in Dubai’s distinguished record of leadership and innovation,” said Mattar Al Tayer, director general and chairman of the board of executive directors at RTA.

Joby Aviation founder and CEO JoeBen Bevirt said: “By working alongside the RTA, other government agencies and infrastructure partners, we’ve been able to streamline development of the world’s first air taxi service and are closer than ever to making urban air transport an everyday reality for residents and visitors across the UAE."

The company is conducting daily flight demonstrations at Dubai Airshow 2025.
