Chile-based airline JetSMART has selected Pratt & Whitney (P&W) GTF engines to power an additional 35 Airbus A320neo family aircraft it has on order, including nine A321XLR aircraft. P&W will also provide the airline with GTF engine maintenance through a comprehensive service agreement.
""We are building upon our collaboration with JetSMART as they drive continued expansion in the Latin American market,"" said P&W president of commercial engines Rick Deurloo.
""We are pleased to select additional GTF engines for our A320neo family fleet, as a key element to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions,"" said JetSMART CEO Estuardo Ortiz.
JetSMART also operates an additional 15 leased GTF powered A320neo family aircraft and a fleet of 11 A320ceo family aircraft powered by the V2500 engine. The airline is aiming to have 100 aircraft by 2026. It received a A321neo in December last year, the third of five A320 family aircraft deliveries scheduled from SMBC Aviation Capital.
