East African airline Jetlink Express has sued Kenya Airways for defamation.
Jetlink has accused the national airline of sending out communications with the intent of defaming and undermining it, says court documents filed on October 14.
Emmanuel Chepkonga, country manager for southern Sudan region at Kenya Airways is also being sued for sending an email to travel agents suggesting that Jetlink wasn’t operating on a certain route.
The complaint dates back to 2008 when Jetlink says another Kenya Airways employee sent an email to industry players questioning Jetlink’s safety.
Jetlink has asked for a permanent injunction restraining Kenya Airways, its employees, agents and directors from publishing any libellous words on Jetlink or negatively attacking it in addition to general damages for libel and defamation. It is also seeking punitive and aggravated damages.
