JetBlue has announced significant network enhancements in Puerto Rico, including the addition of six new destinations from San Juan.
The enhancements will also see JetBlue's premium ""Mint"" experience introduced for the first time to Puerto Rico customers on a daily flight between San Juan and JFK.
""JetBlue has been a proud part of the Puerto Rican community for over twenty years, and we're excited to deepen our roots with this expansion,"" said Marty St. George, president, JetBlue.
""Our decades-long history with this vibrant community drives our enthusiasm to not only increase our service but also to strengthen our relationships and presence in the region. We are excited to continue growing alongside the Puerto Rican community, ensuring that JetBlue remains a key partner in connecting the people of Puerto Rico.""
The 'Mint' service will also be added to flights heading to PHX and Vancouver starting this winter, with St George saying ""We are confident that customers in Phoenix, Vancouver, and San Juan will appreciate this elevated service and the expanded travel possibilities that come with it.""
JetBlue will also be adding flights to St Vincent, the Grenadines and Bonaire - intending to ""establish JetBlue as the only US airline offering direct connections from New York’s JFK to these destinations.""
Enhancements and new flights will come at a cost as JetBlue looks to ""redeploy capacity"", with a statement saying: ""JetBlue will be adding these new routes and services by redeploying capacity within its network. As a result of the end of the airline’s Northeast Alliance with American Airlines, JetBlue will scale back flying at New York’s LaGuardia Airport and reduce flying on a handful of underperforming routes in its network"".
